2 down ... 30 to go ...

Hello, ladies!

So since the last post, I have accomplished 2 of 32 goals.  I'm a bit behind, but I have not forgotten.

Goal No. 1:  Smile!

I finished my first round of photography classes.  I have wanted to take photography classes ever since college, but UGA did not let me in to its photojournalism classes.  (Rude.)  So, I signed up for them 10 years later.  I took it at The Showcase School in Atlanta - it's amazing.  I not only learned how to use my fancy-pants camera, but I took a couple of decent shots, too.  I was lucky enough to get to know T.L. Pixley, who is quite a fantastic professional photographer.  She has been published in all sorts of fun places, including the New York Times.  Here is her website.  http://www.tlpixley.com/

Below is my favorite from the class.  I took it at our fieldtrip to the historic Oakland Cemetery in Atlanta, looking into a rather nice mausoluem.  I found it to be very peaceful and uplifting

For those of you not native or familiar with the Oakland Cemetery, it is where Margaret Mitchell, Maynard Jackson (Atlanta's first African-American mayor), and the golf legend Bobby Jones, amongst other notable residents, are buried.  More to follow when a certain labrador retriever is not butting my legs to play with his toy.

Goal  No. 2 - a bit bizarre

My 32 goals for Year 32 pushed me to complete Goal #2.  I have loved Wheel of Fortune since I was very young.  I know, it's nerdy.  But surprise - I am, too!

So Wheel of Fortune (or WoF) is looking for people to audition in Atlanta.  I was super excited, until I saw we had to submit a video.  So, after 2 (or 4) beers, I had my lovely and fantastic husband film my video.  I was quite impressed, and a bit surprised, about how much he got into the "production" side of things.  After 5 takes, we found one that was suitable for the likes of Pat and Vanna.  Unfortunately, I am having technical difficulties, so I must ask my law firm's IT department for assistance in the morning.  Somehow, my non-existent Southern accent made its appearance for the WoF recruiters.  We shall see if they like it.

So, keep your fingers crossed that I will be chosen to audition for WoF!  And then we can have a poll about whether to spin or buy a vowel .... how fun would it be if I got to spin that wheel and elbow out other nerds for a chance at the Bonus Round?

32 ...

I turned 32 yesterday.

And what a wonderful birthday, which I celebrated with my fantastic husband.  While I turned 32, I remembered that I have 10,000 reasons to be happy.  I love my wonderful husband, cherish my friends, live in a great city, have a solid job and am very blessed in so many ways.
But I have become set in my routine.

Please don't be confused - I am not griping.  I do not have reason to complain (see reasons above).  Instead of complaining, I realized that I have become uninspired in some aspects of my life.  (Cue Jerry Maguire music.)  I have become routine.

I miss my inspiration, and the purpose of this is to find it, embrace it and hopefully expand it.

This year, at 32, I'm going to do 32 new things.  The goal is to rekindle my inspiration and make me excited.

So I ask you to help me along my goal.  Feel free to suggest new ideas - however crazy or not-crazy they might be.  I hope to cultivate new interests, perhaps even talents, during this next year.  And hopefully, along the way, my misplaced inspiration will come running back, catch fire and perhaps even become contagious.

We shall see.
